Czech Railways are the promo partner of the championship. One part of the preparations was also s promo action. Within this action Pendolino took on Thursday 11th October 2007 some well known championship involved people from Prague to Brno. This type of promo actions, when they take well known people, who would never get on a Czech Railways train, because they are probably scared for their life, is for Czech Railways regular. They try to present themselves different form the reality, that ordinary people know from everyday experience with this company - dirty delayed old-fashioned low quality trains, dirty railway stations and funny infopanels, which either don't work or show no delay or much lower than the real one.
The goal of the promo action was probably to show the fact, that on Sunday, on the day of the main race, A1 GP ticket holders after presenting it at the Czech Railways counter, can get a free return ticket from any railway station in the Czech to Brno.
However, the action went wrong by the fact, that Czech Railways gave drivng chance of the Pendolino to the participants of the ride themselves in some parts of the track. The first, who informed about the case was iDnes, based on the passengers complains. According to the Czech Railways inspection, who started to analyze the case, a railway vehicle can be driven only by a qualified person with corresponding passed exams. The fact, that the participants were checked by the real drivers, means nothing.
So the promo action for the Czech Railways support changed to the confirmation of the well known facts about this company, which rather discourage and disappoint people. What can people think about a company, which in the name of medialization gives in chance the security of the passengers. There are many cases known in the world, when this promo driving was payed with the life of innocent passengers. For example, in 1994 a russian Airbus crashed and 75 people died, when the pilot gave driving to his 15yo son.
