The circuit

The official name of the circuit is Bahrain International Circuit and it was opened in 2004. It is situated in the south of the Manama capital city and belongs to the Sakhir municipality. Until about 1930, when the oil reserves were discovered, the main industry branch was pearl diving. The time zone is UTC + 3 hours.

The results

After previous unfinished race in Malaysia Felipe Massa showed up in great condition and after the start from the second position he managed to win the race. His team colleague Kimi Räikkönen finished tight in the second place. Robert Kubica also showed great condition from the last race and as in Malaysia he managed to finish in the second place after starting even from the pole position. Lewis Hamilton finished after a collision with the loss of one lap in the thirteenth place and got no points. So the championship leadership was overtaken by Kimi Räikkönen. Second place was taken by Nick Heidfeld from BMW. Lewis Hamilton has thus currently to be satisfied with the third place in the current points status.
