Peugeot Partner 1.6 110k (2008) - first driving impressions
Just before the sale start we had the opportunity to shortly test the new Partner with petrol engine. Although this version is probably going to be minority, because of the diesel popularity at utility cars, one cannot condemn it at all. The petrol engines from Peugeot are constantly improving, which is also due to the cooperation with BMW. The first experience is accompanied by many photos from the environment, that should be familiar to the new Partner.

Firstly short consideration about the petrol engine. Diesel is popular at the utility automobiles not only thanks to the lower fuel consumption, but also thanks to the higher torque and in fact all diesel engine qualities, which allow a fully loaded car nice maneuverability at low speeds. Petrol engine requires at this situation much more sensitive play with the clutch. But the balance of the clutch of the new Partner seemed to be optimal, but we of course did not have the opportunity to test a loaded car. So who is the petrol engine for? It is suitable for shorter distance and not often rides, when the diesel engine does not manage to warm up and in fact easily cools down in between. An example of such usage is a craftsman, who arrives to a working place, sometimes goes for material or for a snack, but the car stands in place for most of the time. The important role plays also the price, which is of course lower at the petrol engine.

The loaded car also requires the ability of safe stopping. One cannot complain about the brakes at all, their exhibition is often almost viperous and requires some caution. If a driver used to slower break reactions of an older utility car sits behind the steering wheel, he might easily end up at the front window, or a not careful driver behind him in the rear bumper.

The automobile interior is aimed at the utility usage. So one cannot chose from more upholstery variants, for example, the two seater version has simply always grey one and the three seater has always a blue one. But the interior is valuable for the practicality. It offers many storage places of different type, so there is always a place to put a pencil, keys, documents or a bottle with a drink. Also the seats are pleasant and offer optimum side holding. One must also compliment the head restraint, which is deep enough and one can rest the head without pitching. Simply said one feels in the interior as at work.

The impression from the external appearance depends much on individual taste, of course. But again it is visible, that it is a utility machine, so there do not appear any complicated shapes, which at working deployment are rather the source of problems, where dust settlement and scrapes are the better case. However, the design is very personal and pleasant. The new Partner simply has many presumptions to impress many customers.
