The same volume and cylinder count has also the more sporty F430, so California extends the range of eight cylinders engines at Ferrari. But the engine is completely new, the big change is mainly in the fuel direct injection, which should decrease the fuel consumption. It reaches the power of 338 kW, which is against 360 kW at F430 less, but the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h should be the same 4 seconds. It is also thanks to the 7-speed dual clutch transmission located at the rear driven axle, while the engine is likewise at 612 Scaglietti at the front, so the car construction uses the conception remarked as transaxle.

The name California evokes sunny relaxation and in fact this car is aimed at something like this. The roof is equipped with folding hard top which can be stored in the space behind the seats.

It is too early to talk about the availability or the price at this moment. The car should be presented in the world premiere at autumn autoshow in Paris 2008 and should go to sale probably in 2009. The talks about the price are probably completely useless, it should be about 4 mil. CZK, but in the Ferrari case it is a data, which takes the interest probably only of those, who are never going to buy this car. Who is interested in this car has no other option than to put himself on the list and hope, that Ferrari graciously even finds him worthy of this car and in a few years time horizon sells it to him, when it comes to his turn. But the rest must not despair, there are many similarly powerful cars and cheaper ones, but they simply don't have the fame of such an exclusive jewel.
